Reduce waste and improve performance when you understand metrics

Learn the critical metrics and charts used to extract insights and effectively communicate with stakeholders about flow and bottlenecks, forecast, predictability, and variability. Know how they work, which data sources them, and more importantly, how to use them to drive data-informed conversations.

This workshop is a hands-on session that will provide participants with knowledge and ability on the critical metrics and charts used by experienced Kanban practitioners.

You’ll learn how to use metrics and charts as tools to extract insights and effectively communicate with stakeholders about flow and bottlenecks, forecast, predictability, and variability.

In this session, you won’t get only awareness and knowledge but also hands-on experience building the metrics and charts yourself from scratch, so you have a chance to understand how they work deeply, which data sources them, and more importantly, how to use them to drive data-informed conversations.

Participants will receive an Excel file with a dataset and will learn how to extract the following metrics:

• System Lead Time
• Customer Lead Time
• Throughput
• Flow Efficiency
• Discard Rate

They will also learn, through guided exercises, how to create and explore the following charts/tools:

• Ageing work in progress
• Throughput Run Chart
• Lead time Scatterplot
• Lead Time Distribution
• Lead Time Histogram
• In/Out Flow
• Cumulative Flow Diagram

Together, we’ll explore all you need to manage flow, one of the key principles of the Kanban Method.

IMPORTANT FOR THIS WORKSHOP: Bring a laptop with Microsoft Excel on it.
